Jatayu Earth’s Center, the first major BOT tourism project in Kerala, India, is the first joint effort by the Department of Tourism, Kerala and Mr. Rajiv Anchal along with private equity holders to create interesting places in Kerala.

Jatayu Earth’s Center is a unique combination of all aspects of tourism and offers an interesting experience to every tourist in Kerala, God’s own Country. Shri Rajiv Anchal, renowned Film Director, Art Director and Sculptor, took ten years to meticulously design and complete the monumental project.

Jatayu Earth’s Center is spread over 65 acres of multi terrain landscape at Jatayu rock near Chadayamangalam town in one of the most interesting places in Kerala, Kollam. The terrain is 1000 feet above sea level and has diverse geographic features ranging from hills, valleys, rugged rocks, caves to cultivable lands.

The Earth’s Center is easily accessible as it is right in the middle of the South Kerala tourist spots. The nearest international airport, Trivandrum, is only 50 Kms from Jatayu Earth’s Center.

Legend has it that in the great epic Ramayana, Jatayu, a noble bird of divine origin was the one who informed Rama about Sita’s kidnap by Ravana after trying valiantly to save her from the demon king. The fight left him mortally wounded yet he survived until he was able to meet Rama. For the religiously inclined, there is a footprint mark of Lord Rama here as also a temple dedicated to Lord Rama in an adjacent compound.

A giant sculpture of Jatayu towers over the destination. The colossal statue of 200 feet length,150 feet width and 70 feet height is the largest functional bird sculpture in the world as authenticated by the Guinness Book of World Records, making it easier to enter the list of interesting places in Kerala.
