The romantic comedy follows the life of the young marketeer, Emily Cooper, who, on a spur-of-the-moment decision, decides to take a new job opportunity, moving from her home in Chicago to start a new life in Paris.

Camille in Emily in Paris is played by the French actress Camille Razat. Razat is a talented actress and is noted for her roles in The Accusation, Mastemah, (Girl) Friend and The Disappearance. 

Who plays Emily in Paris? 

British and American actress Lily Collins plays the main character Emily, in Emily in Paris. She is the daughter of the famous British singer Phil Collins and noted for her acting roles in The Mortal Instruments, Inheritance and Love, Rosie. 

Who plays Alfie in Emily in Paris? 

Alfie is played by British actor Lucien Laviscount. He is said to be a rising star with notable roles in famous T.V. shows and movies, including Snatch, The Bye Bye Man, Supernatural and Skins. 

Who plays Gabriel in Emily in Paris? 

Gabriel is played by French actor and model, Lucas Bravo. Some of his notable roles were in Ticket to Paradise, Smart Ass and The Honeymoon. Interestingly, in his days before acting and modelling, he also worked as a sous-chef.

Who plays Mindy in Emily in Paris? 

The character Mindy is played by Ashley Park, who is an American singer, dancer and actor. Ashley has an impressive repertoire and has also starred in Girls5eva, Tales of the City and Ghosts of Hiroshima. 

Emily in Paris Season 1 recap

Season 1 of Emily in Paris was first released in October 2020, and quickly became a guilty pleasure for many Netflix viewers. In Case you’ve forgotten, here is a season 1 recap in bullet points: 

Emily takes on a new job. 

• Emily takes the marketing job in the French marketing agency Savoir, because her boss, Madeline, is pregnant and wants to stay at home in Chicago. 
• Emily starts an Instagram account, “Emily in Paris.”
• Her new boss, Sylvie, is cold towards Emily and set in her old ways of how marketing should be done. 
• Her new colleagues are also following suit and being a little cold towards Emily. 
• Emily starts to win around her new work mates with her positive attitude and fun personality.
• Her new boss, Sylvie, is having an affair with Antoine. 
• Antoine takes an interest in Emily, but the interest is platonic, not romantic. 
• Emily convinces Sylvie to leave Antoine, telling her that she is worth much more than being a mistress. 
• The ‘Emily in Paris’ Instagram account is growing and starts to bring in new clients. 

Emily’s personal life 

• Emily has a boyfriend Doug, who still lives in America, but their long-distance relationship doesn’t work out and they eventually split up. 
• Emily befriends Mindy, who is the daughter of a wealthy Chinese family.
• Mindy was going to become a professional singer, but after an embarrassing moment on T.V., she gave up that dream and currently works as a nanny for a rich family. 
• Emily meets her new neighbour Gabreil and also befriends his current girlfriend, Camille. 

Emily messes up 

• Emily inadvertently messes up the Pierre Cadault fashion show, which was gatecrashed by their rival Grey Space. 
• This event results in Emily being fired from her new role. 
• Emily remedies the situation by suggesting that Pierre Cadault should premier his new line at the Grey Space venue. 
• Her talents as marketer, results in her getting her job back. 

Emily and the love triangle 

• Despite already being in a relationship, Gabriel develops feelings for Emily and the feelings are returned. 
• They share a kiss and Emily feels terrible about betraying her new friend Camille.
• After the fashion show, a new relationship begins to blossom, between Emily and Pierre Cadult’s nephew, Mathieu.
• Mathieu invites Emily to join him on a romantic vacation. 
• Gabriel buys a restaurant in Norway and is expecting to move away from Paris for good.
• After hearing this news Emily and Gabriel confess their feelings to one another and they end up sleeping with each other.
• Mathieu still thinks he and Emily are in the beginning of a new relationship, unaware of her recent betrayal with Gabriel.

Season 1 of Emily in Paris is filled with drama, romantic dilemmas, light-hearted humour and perhaps at times, unrealistic depictions of the marketing world. 

Emily in Paris Season 2 recap

Season 2 of Emily in Paris is equally as drama-filled as season 1, picking up where the last season left off, where we see the consequences of Emily’s actions. 

Emily’s breaks up with Mathieu 

• Mathieu finds out about Emily and Gabriel and tells her to go on the vacation to St. Tropez by herself.
• Emily invites her friends Mindy and Camille to join her on the trip.
• On the vacation, Emily bumps into her boss Sylvie, who we find out is married to Laurant, although they live apart. 

Emily’s messes up her career, again 

• Emily unexpectedly meets Gregory Dupree, who states that he is a long term friend of her client Pierre Cadult. 
• Emily and Gregory stage a publicity stunt, where Gregory promotes Pierre’s new luggage line.
• It turns out that Gregory is actually a rival of Pierre and the whole publicity stunt is humiliating for her client, warning us of the potential dangers of influencer marketing. 

Camille finds out

• Camille discovers what happened between Emily and her boyfriend, Gabriel.
• She confronts Emily publicly at her birthday party.
• Emily and Camille make friends, agreeing that neither of them will seek a relationship with Gabriel. 
• Antoine, however, has invested in Gabriel’s new restaurant in Paris and arranged for Emily to support his restaurant marketing strategy. 

Alfie comes onto the scene

• Season 2 introduces the new love interest Alfie.
• They meet in a French language class.
• Emily and Alfie initially butt heads but end up developing feelings for one another.
• At the end of season 2, Alfie has to return to London but states that he wishes to continue the relationship with Emily. 

Sylvie quits

• The company’s American boss Madeline, who we met in season 1, visits the business in Paris.
• Madeline discovers that their client Antoine, who was Sylvie’s previous lover, has been undercharged for the company’s services.
• Madeline also tries to heal the relationship between Gregory and Pierre, inviting Gregory to Pierre’s fashion show, against the advice of Sylvie. 
• Pierre Cadault is furIous and fires Savoir as his marketing agency. 
• Sylvie quits her job and launches her own P.R. firm with Luc and Julien.
• Emily now has two choices, either remain at her position at Svoir, or join Sylvie in her new P.R. firm.
• This season ends with Emily stuck in a major career decision and also discovering that Camille and Gabriel are now back together. 

Emily in Paris Season 3 recap  

The most recent season of Emily in Paris has left fans shocked as the storyline increasingly becomes more entangled, with new revelations that lead Emily to make tough decisions in her personal and professional life. 

Emily’s work life

• Emily tries to work for both of her bosses, without them knowing, but the stress catches up with her and she can’t juggle both roles. 
• Emily makes the decision to join Sylvie’s new P.R. company.
• She begins acquiring new clients and giving them some good marketing ideas.
• Her Instagram account has grown massively and she is now at the best point of her career. 

JVMA drama

• Nicolas is a new character of the show and his family owns the company, JVMA.
• JVMA are rivals of Sylvie’s new P.R. company.
• Nicolas and Mindy become involved with one another. 
• Nicolas doesn’t like Emily, but Mindy states that she won’t choose between her partner and her best friend.
• Julian is annoyed that he has been pushed out of the spotlight and feels like he is living in Emily’s shadow.
• We see Julian accept an offer from the rival company, JVMA.

Camille leaves Gabriel 

• Emily see’s Camille and Sofia kiss, but doesnt tell Gabriel. 
• Gabriel kisses Emily’s hand and Camille sees this, releasing that he is still in love with her. 
• Camille leaves Gabriel at the altar of their wedding, due to his unresolved feelings for Emily.
• Camille isn’t fully committed to Gabriel either and was having an affair through their relationship. 
• The season ends with the audience finding out that Camille is pregnant. 

Season 3 is probably the most exciting season of Emily in Paris. We are left wondering if Gabriel and Emily will make it together, how will the new baby affect their relationship? and what drama lies ahead between Mindy and Nicolas’ new romance. 

Season 4 cannot come quick enough!

Will there be a season 4 of Emily in Paris?

Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed, Netflix did renew the show for seasons 3 and 4, which were apparently filmed back-to-back. Given the release date of previous seasons, we could take an educated guess that Season 4 will return to our screens before the end of 2023, usually around October – December time. 

Is Emily in Paris filmed in Paris? 

Emily in Paris is filmed throughout Paris and its surrounding suburbs. It would be pretty difficult to call a show Emily in Paris without providing viewers with the jaw dropping scenery, stunning architectural design and historical locations of one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

The T.V. show includes many stunning backdrops that almost distract the viewer from the progressing storyline. In particular, the 5th arrondissement and the 1st arrondissement are used for the show’s setting, giving viewers a glimpse into some of the most beautiful parts of Paris.

Right from the it’s initial release in October 2020, producers made it clear to viewers that Paris iconology would become the show’s backdrop. Here are some of our most favourite filming locations in season one of Emily in Paris. 

Place de l’Estrapade – 5th arrondissement

Place de l’Estrapade is an idyllic square located in the 5th Arrondissement of Paris, or more commonly referred to as the Latin Quarter. This location became the setting of Emily’s apartment block, her neighbour Gabriel’s restaurant and their local bakery La Boulangerie Moderne.

Place de Valois – 1st arrondissement

Place de Valois is referred to as the ‘secret courtyard’ by locals living in the city, located in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, which isn’t far from the Louvre museum. This location became the setting for Emily’s workplace, the french marketing agency Savoir and the nearby Bistro, Bistrot Valois became the setting for many scenes of after work socialising.

Palais Garnier – 9^th arrondissement

In season 1, Emily attended an opera in the iconic and extravagant location of the Palais Garnier, named after its architect and designer Charles Garnier. The building is flourished with elegant embellishments, gold tapering and opulent design. Nearly 150 years old, the building has never gone out of taste, becoming an architectural masterpiece of Napoleon III style.

Le Grand Véfour is the oldest restaurant in all of Paris, which has stood in the same spot for over 200 years. Where was Emily in Paris season 2 filmed? 

Emily in Paris Season 2 still heavily focuses on Paris iconography but reaches out a little bit to scenes set in the beautiful location of the French riviera. Check out my favourite filming locations in season 2. 

Grand Hotel Du Cap-Ferrat Four Seasons

In season 2, Emily takes a vacation to the St Tropez Hotel, which is actually set in the Grand Hotel Du Cap-Ferrat Four Seasons, located in the French riviera. This stunning filming location rests on the coast and offers jaw-dropping sea views that will have you immediately booking a flight to visit it.

Le Marais district – 3rd and 4th arrondissement

Many of the scenes in season 2 of Emily in Paris, are set in the Le Marais district of Paris, located across the 3rd and 4th arrondissement. This area offers picturesque backdrops of boutique shops, historical buildings and charming, quaint streets.

In the season 2 episode, “Birthday” Emily visits one of the most famous cemeteries in the world, the Pere-Lachaise cemetery. This spot is the first garden cemetery to be constructed and the final resting place of many famous celebrities, including Jim Morrison and Oscar Wilde.

Jardin du Palais Royal – 5th arrondissement

In the season 2 finale episode, “The French Revolution”, Emily visits the Jardin du Palais Royal. This location was once the 17th century medicinal garden and throughout history has gone through major growth, with museum’s and zoo’s being added to its grounds. 

The Jardin du Palais Royal is the home of French history and culture and mostly definitely worth the visit, no matter the time of the year.

Where was Emily in Paris season 3 filmed? 

In Season 3 of Emily in Paris, we see Emily return to Paris and make strategic decisions regarding her career. The storyline is again set against the beautiful backdrop of Parisian cultural and historical landmarks. 

The Eiffel Tower 

The Eiffel Tower is probably the most iconic landmark of Paris, featuring in Emily’s dream sequence, the dinner scene and popping up in lots of other shots throughout all three seasons of the show.

The Quai des Célestins is an iconic spot where Emily performs a romantic gesture for her at the time boyfriend, Alfie. Located near the 4th arrondissement, this spot features a running river, which looks amazing in the nighttime scene, where the light bounces off the sparkling water.
