The first ascent of Mera was made by Jimmy Roberts and Sen Tenzing in 1953. The next ascent was made in 1975 by French climbers G. Baus, Marcel Jolly and L. Hills climbed the North peak.

The first recorded ascent of true Lobuche East was made by Laurence Nielson and Sherpa Ang Gyalzen in 1984. Others may have reached the east Lobuche peak but there is no file exit. There are two peaks to Lobuche summit. One is Lobuche East, 6119m (20075ft) and the next is Lobuche West, 6145m (20161ft).
