Former Happy Mondays frontman, Shaun Ryder, has claimed he was sacked as a postman in his teens for biting a dog while high on acid.
Shaun, who’s appeared on I’m A Celebrity and Celebrity Big Brother, had worked with the postal service from age 15 immediately after leaving school.
But he was sacked aged 19, shortly after having been promoted to the position of postman.
He revealed that he got angry with a dog for snapping at his heels and decided to bite the dog himself.
“Only fair. I did to the dog what it was trying to do to me,” he revealed.
Shaun had just been promoted to a senior position, yet he didn’t last very long in the role as he explained that the incident may have been fueled by the fact that he had just taken acid to help with the “boredom”.

“I had dropped a tab of acid probably to relieve the boredom then on the round as I was stepping up to be promoted to a postman, this terrier dog at a pub I delivered to, tried to attack,” he told Nigel Pivaro during an interview ahead of a new Hollywood film about his childhood.
As it went another postman who was passing in his van saw what happened and reported me.
“So I thought I am not having this, I grabbed it, bit it on its head threw it down and gave a kick up the bum.

“That was it, I was suspended but I had already started the band so I wasn’t too bothered.”

Shaun’s 2011 biography Twisting My Melon is being brought to the big screen with Jack O’Connell playing him.
The film will show his incredible rise from a child who loves his rock music, to the lead singer of The Happy Mondays and an important part of Madchester’s party scene.
