It was one rainy day in Ssamziegil, Insadong, Seoul during my first visit in Korea this year (October, 2017) that I happen to come across the Pyeongchang 2018 Cheering Supporters Recruitment booth with my sister.
I was pretty much clueless why we walked all the way there from the subway station exit, but my sister being adamant about it made me realize it has something to do with her being a WOW Korea Supporter. I’m pretty much briefed of what she does (promoting Korean tourism through her social media, attending meetings, making monthly reports, showing up at events, etc) and see how much hard work she puts in it. And hearing her brag about the recruitment thing even before we flew to Korea, I put two and two and realized that this must be it.
I am not very much into social gatherings so I was quite anxious when we came there and had to do stuff I might later on regret. Haha. Gladly, it wasn’t much. All I had to do was sign up for membership, get some stamps done by taking my photo along with some cheering props and then write my support message for the Pyeongchang 2018 for the last task. When we finished everything we even got a free tumbler and some other stuff.
What I wasn’t aware of and what I didn’t think would come out of the photos I was privileged to take at the recruitment kiosk was a mini figurine of my own image. Beforehand, I really didn’t bother check what my sister was talking about so when she told me about the figurines I couldn’t help but laugh in incredulity. It wasn’t after I saw the promotional video with my figurine on it that it all sank in. And at first I was like ‘why-why is my face in this video?‘. I even had this wild idea that the figurine was life size and I panicked, that I immediately pinged my sister and asked her whether it is! Gladly, she said it was just a mini figurine and I was like ‘aw‘ in a cooing manner since it was only then I came to relax and find the thing cute.
Anyway, I am writing this blog post to celebrate this memory and show Korea Tourism Organization how thankful I am at how much appreciation you show for the supporters of Pyeongchang 2018 through the ‘I am waiting for ME in Korea‘ event!
