So you’re going to Ho Chi Minh City?
Congratulations! Ho Chi Minh City is one of the most fascinating cities in all of South East Asia. Great sightseeing, vibrant nightlife and world class cuisine. You’ll never have a dull moment.
But unfortunately, choosing where to stay in a new city can be challenging. And this is especially true for Ho Chi Minh City where the quality of the hotels could vary a lot. Sadly some of my friends have ended up staying in roach infested dumps far away from the city center.
But the good news is that I can help you. I have been living in Ho Chi Minh City since April 2016, and I have helped countless friends to find great accommodations. Therefore I have compiled all my knowledge into a handy guide that’ll help visitors to find the best hotels in Ho Chi Minh City.
Let’s dive right in!
Where To Stay In Ho Chi Minh City 2018
First and foremost, most visitors will end up staying on Bui Vien street or in the Nguyen Hue area:
- Those who travel on a smaller budget will likely be staying on Bui Vien street, which has many hostels and less expensive hotels.
- Other travelers who wish to spend more, will likely be staying in the Nguyen Hue area. This area also has most of the cities upscale nightlife.
Furthermore, I have divided the hotels into 6 different categories. This is done on purpose to be able to accommodate as many people’s budgets as possible. Hence I hope my guide will be helpful to everyone, no matter if you’re a backpacker, a middle-class family or a business traveler.
Best Overall Hotel: Park Hyatt Saigon
Park Hyatt Saigon is located in an elegant French colonial building, just one block away from Nguyen Hue. In addition, the hotel is within easy walking distance to many of the popular landmarks, for instance the Opera House, Notre-Dame Cathedral and Independence Palace.
No expenses were spared during the design of this extraordinary hotel. The colonial past has been faithfully preserved while modern luxury has been added. Creating a truly stunning hotel. The hotel has spacious, modern and clean rooms, equipped with marble-tiled bathrooms, plasma TVs and even Nespresso coffee makers! In addition, Park Hyatt has a jaw-dropping pool area and an excellent breakfast buffet.
All of this makes Park Hyatt Saigon my choice as the best hotel in Saigon. Highly recommended!
Best Budget Hotel: Sunny Guest House
For the budget minded traveler, Sunny Guest House gives the most bang for one’s buck. Sunny Guest House is a clean, modern and affordable 2 star hotel located within walking distance to Bui Vien street, Taka Plaza and Ben Thanh market.
The hotel offers 24-hour room service, free WiFi, 24-hour security, laundry services and airport transportation. All of this plus the very affordable room prices, makes Sunny Guest House my choice as the best budget hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.
Best Mid Range Hotel: LaLuna Saigon
LaLuna Saigon is a 3 star hotel conveniently located just a few minutes walk from Ben Thanh market and Bui Vien street. Due to the hotel’s attractive location, modern amenities and great prices, La Luna attracts numerous travelers each year.
The hotel offers free WiFi, 24-hour security, daily housekeeping and 24-hour front desk. Since no other hotel in this price category can rival this hotel, I crown LaLuna as the best mid range hotel in Ho Chi Minh City 2018!
Best Luxury Hotel: Le Méridien Saigon
If you want to experience true 5-star luxury you should stay at Le Méridien Saigon. Le Méridien is located right on the riverfront in central District 1, and has all the amenities you can expect from a 5 star hotel. This hotel is popular with tourists and business travelers alike.
Le Méridien offers 24-hour front desk, two restaurants, laundry services and free WiFi throughout the hotel. In addition, the hotel has several services tailored for business travelers or people requiring that extra touch of luxury and comfort. For instance a business center, club lounge, swimming pool, spa and fitness center.
Best Business Hotel: Hotel Nikko Saigon
Hotel Nikko’s 2,000 square meters of meeting space and its close proximity to the city’s business center, makes this hotel the perfect place for conventions, seminars and corporate meetings. The hotel is also located near popular landmarks including Independence Palace, Ben Thanh Market and Notre-Dame Cathedral.
The hotel amenities includes several restaurants (Japanese, Chinese, the lobby lounge and an international buffet restaurant), 24-hour room service, a spa, sauna, pool, and fitness center.
The excellent business and meeting facilities combined with the attractive room prices, makes Hotel Nikko Saigon the best choice for business travelers.
Best Spa Hotel: Silverland Jolie Hotel & Spa
My choice as the best spa hotel in Ho Chi Minh City is Silverland Jolie Hotel & Spa. Silverland is centrally located and within walking distance to most of the sights. The onsite spa is run by KL Spa, which are offering foot massages, aromatherapy treatments, pain release massages and their signature body massage – a combination of traditional Vietnamese, hot stone and Thai massage. In addition, Silverland has an excellent outdoor pool and a well equipped fitness center.
The excellent spa facilities combined with the attractive room prices, makes Silverland the best choice for those travelers who wish to combine their Vietnam trip with a relaxing spa experience.
