As every year, the Orotava dresses up for the celebration of Corpus Christi, and as always in this celebration dozens of people collaborate and work together in the decoration of the streets near the Town Hall Square.

The flower petals cover the ground by drawing figures and shapes of various colors that are repeated along the way, most of them are representations of biblical passages. Artworks that disappear with the passage of people in the procession of Corpus Christi.

Origin of the tradition

This tradition dates back to the mid-nineteenth century, when two women decided to make a Carpet of flowers in front of their house to celebrate the procession. Little by little, more neighbors joined this initiative until in the 80s it was possible that the entire procession route was completely carpeted.
