I have never been a fan of fiction / Young adult genre, but this Book THE HATE U GIVE by Angie Thomas is an exception, it’s very realistic and one of the best books of the recent time. But I must also inform you that the book is based on liberal, social, and anti-racial topics. you would absolutely need an open mind and to comprehend the story.
The story is about a 16 years old Starr Carter, who has been living a dual life between here home – a lower middle class black neighborhood and her school – a predominantly white upper class area. Her life changes when see witness her childhood black friend’s fatal shooting by a white police officer.
As the only eye witness of the event, Starr not only goes through an emotional drama, but also had to deal with police investigations and differed media attention!. All the tensed trials and aftermath of events sets her on a path to realize her own worth and purpose of life.
But this book - THE HATE U GIVE is not all about the black & white controversies; but also take you to realize the depth of friendship, strength of family, struggles to cop-up with changes in life. The book also has sprinkles of good humor in between super-tensed events and emotional cries. On the whole the book has everything what a normal drama lover would look for.
Note: As I said, read the book with a completely open-mind. If you’re already biased to either black or white supremacy, then this book is not for you; I bet you will not finish the book. So think about your mental bias before you buy the book.
