Warsaw Fashion Week: Sightseeing and Shopping Places

Fashion week in Warsaw, the capital city of Poland, is just around the corner. From March 31st to April 2nd the latest trends will be showcased on the runway in Warsaw by well known and upcoming designers. There are so many places to visit besides rubbing shoulders with models and designers at the fashion week. Here are places you should see, where to shop and where you can eat Polish food.

Wilanow Palace

Wilanow Palace is a once palace turned museum that was home to many royal families and commissioned by King Jana III. Completed in 1696, Wilanow Palace survived both World Wars as well as the Warsaw Uprising. The palace features baroque European style as well as an exquisite garden designed with Italian style in mind. The palace is now a museum and exhibits works of famous Polish painters.

Entrance: Wilanow Palace is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am to 7 pm. To enter into the palace you will pay 20zt. If you want to see the garden you will pay 5zt.

SGH Warsaw School of Economics

SGH Warsaw School of Economics (Szkola Glówna Handlowa) stands as the oldest school of Economics in Poland. SGH library’s designs will speak to your inner appreciation of architecture and European stylish designs. The library has over 215,000 magazines both Polish and foreign.

Entrance: The library at SGH Warsaw School of Economics is a public library therefore accessible by the general public for free. Click here for opening hours.

Warsaw Rising Museum

The Warsaw Rising Museum shows the struggle of those living in Warsaw both before and during the outbreak of fighting in Warsaw. A timeline of the uprising events is showcased on a steel monument that exhibits thousands of films and photos. The Uprising Museum’s tower also has an exceptional view of Warsaw and Freedom Park.

Entrance: It is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 am to 6 pm, Thursdays from 8 am to 8 pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 6 pm. Entrance fee is 20PLN per person, audio tours are available for 10PLN and a physical guide for 120PLN.

Łazienki Park

Lazienki Park is a park and palace located in central Warsaw. The park is situated next to Ujazdow palace and is known for its music, arts and other events promoting the culture of Warsaw. Among the unique structures at the park, you will find an Astronomical Observatory and the temple of Diana. Unusually, It is also home to many different peacocks.

Entrance: This park is free of charge but you pay to enter the Palace on the Isle.

Neon Muzeum

The Neon Museum is the first and only museum of its kind in Europe. Opened in 2005, the Neon Museum’s mission was to preserve signs from their original urban settings during the Cold War. Many of these are unique and form famous Polish Artists. There are guided tours available for 150PLn by reservation, otherwise the entrance fee is 10zt.

Entrance: The Neon Museum is open on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 12 noon to 5 pm, Saturdays from 11 am to 6 pm and Sundays from 11 am to 6 pm.

Location: The Neon Museum is located at Building 55 Soho Factory UL Minska 25 Warsaw 03-808.

Palace of Culture and Science

The Palace of Culture and Science boasts to be the tallest building in Poland. Although many of the locals resent it, this has become a major tourist destination because of the trzydzuestja, or large terrace on the 30th floor of the building with a beautiful view of Warsaw. Here you will find a post office, a pool, libraries, and museums. There are also virtual reality tours offered that show how Warsaw looked in the 11th, 14th, and 16th centuries.

Entrance: It is open Monday-Thursday from 10 am to 8 pm and Friday-Sunday from 10 am to 11:30 pm. The observation desk costs 20/15zt.
