10 things to do in the Pink City, Jaipur

Royal Forts, Rich Indian culture, A true glimpse of magnificent Indian heritage, historic monuments, the capital and heart of Rajasthan, yes I am talking about the Pink City, Jaipur.

Jaipur is among the top ten tourist cities of India, home to India's most popular tourist attractions.

Recently I visit Jaipur and Ranthambore and you will go crazy when I say that the trip cost me only 9k bucks which included my return air ticket from Mumbai to Jaipur.
I will write about my experience and tricks that saved me bucks in the next post which will be the travelogue about my Jaipur and Ranthambore trip.

For now here are the top 10 things to do when you are in the Pink city, Jaipur

1. Book a cab to roam around in the city as the traffic is really horrible and you will be hell
exhausted in a couple of hours if you travel by your own vehicle.

2. Plan you travel according to the number of days you have as there is a lot to see in Jaipur,
especially the forts and monuments and it takes ample of time to explore each one of them.

3. Though there are lot of 4/5 star hotels in Jaipur but book one which has the glimpse of the rich
heritage of Jaipur. I would prefer a heritage hotel anytime over a luxury one.

4. Keep in mind the timings as most of the monuments are closed by 5:30 - 6 p.m.
Also keep day one for the forts expedition as you will be all fresh that day and it will leave you
with tired feet so you can try something else less exhausting the next day.

5. There are 3 main forts in Jaipur, Amber, Jaigarh and Nahargarh.
Among the 3 Amber and Jaigarh are the famous ones. Plan to cover both of them on the same day
as they are in vicinity. It takes at least 3 hours to explore one fort completely hence plan to reach
the first fort around its opening time.
Head to the very beautiful Jal Mahal next as you will be mesmerized by its beauty in the
    night.

6. For day 2 you can start with Hawa Mahal, followed by Jantar Mantar and City Palace if time
    permits.

7. Spare day 3 for shopping as Jaipur has endless things which make it a must visit shopping
destination. For all the Shopaholics this is the perfect shopping paradise.
Head to Johari Bazaar or Tripolia Bazaar if you are looking for jewelry.
Do buy some hand made traditional items which are rich in creativity from Chandpol or Kishanpol
Bazzar. Head to Nehru Bazaar for clothes and traditional footwears.

8. Rajasthani cuisine is one of the most famous and loved cuisines of India.
When in Jaipur you will get the best food to treat your taste buds with.
Try the Purana Pandit's lip smacking  Pav-Bhaji in front of Birla Temple.
Pyaaz Kachodi is another mouth watering dish of Jaipur which you should definitely try.
For the non veg lovers try Chicken Tikka at Sethi's and various Egg dishes at Sanjay Omelette.
Radhey Shyam Bhatia Paneer waley serves the best paneer you have ever tasted, also their Soya
    Chaps are yummilious..!!
Finally if you have tried enough of street food and are now craving for the traditional Rajasthani
cuisine, go for Chokhi Dhani - The Ethnic Village Resort.

9. If you have couple of days in spare, do visit Ranthambore National Park which is just 180 kms
from Jaipur. It is one of the largest national parks in Rajasthan which is very famous for its Tigers.

10. Jaipur is not only famous for its forts or monuments but also because of the numerous temples it
is home to. Sometimes it is also called Chhoti Kashi because of the same.
Visit the prominent temples of Jaipur like Govind Dev Ji, Birla Temple, Shila Devi Temple,
Galtaji, Jagat Shrimoni Temple and Shri Kali Temple.
These temples echo the magnificence of the Rajput rulers who once governed the city of Jaipur.
