New York is an expensive place to visit, but even it, they have free things/activities that tourists can do. Below, you’ll find a list of ten (10) things that you can do for free (or almost) in New York and that I’m totally sure that you’ll love.
- Take a walk through Central Park
Central park is a beautiful place with a lot of things to see and to do inside. Go and have fun for a while!
- Free tour in Federal Reserve
To be able to visit it free, you will have to make a reservation through their website, choosing the day and time with a minimum of 30 days in advance. Book now!
- Take the free ferry to Staten Island
If you have in your plans visit the Liberty Statue without paying a dime, you must take the free ferry to Staten Island in Whitehall Terminal, 4 Whitehall Street. The ferry runs 7 days/24hrs.
- Chrysler Building
I really want to invite you to take a moment and admire the Chrysler Building. ¡What a beautiful building! They don’t have a viewpoint or balcony for tourists, but you can walk into the lobby to see it from the inside. It’s a pretty office building.
- Free entrance in museums
Let’s beginning this, saying that in New York a lot of museums have something call suggested admission. In these cases, fees are not required for entrance into the museum. (MoMa, MET, and Museo Guggenheim). Also, you have the option to visit the museum in the free days pre-scheduled.
- High Line
It’s a lineal park built on a historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side. Also, almost every Saturday, they offer free walking tours led by a High Line Docent, a knowledgeable volunteer guide who will offer you an insider’s perspective on the park’s history, design, and landscape. - Brooklyn Bridge
The Brooklyn Bridge connects Manhattan and Brooklyn on East River and allows you to give a pleasant walk in both directions. You can get some great pictures of the city skyline from here!
- Brooklyn Brewery Tour
Grab a ticket for a free tour (limited to 40 people every half hour) every evening from 1 pm to 4 pm, weekends only. 79 North 11th Street, Brooklyn.
- Enjoy a free walking tour through Grand Central
The tour is held every Friday at 12:30 in the courtyard of the sculptures at 120 of the Avenue Park, in front of the Grand Central Station. Organized by the Association Grand Central, this free walking tour takes you through the Grand Central neighborhood. In the visit, you will discover the secret of the Whispering Gallery in the Grand Central Station. Book now!
- Attend a Gospel Mass in Harlem
It is a unique experience! Admission is free but they usually ask for a donation.
