The World Tourism Forum is a global organization holding tourism events in different parts of the world to further boost global tourism. It pays particular attention to the relationship between local and global tourism trends as well as strategies for more sustainable tourism growth.
As mentioned in our last article, AdventureFaktory were invited to the Istanbul World Tourism Forum as part of the 55 international blogger contingent in this world wide event. We had the chance to meet some of the great people in the industry, plus meeting some friends that we will keep for life. The event drew like minded people together, people who are passionate about making a living out of travel.
Check out Travel Tips to Istanbul
One of our perennial favourite airlines, Turkish Airlines flew direct from Dubai to Istanbul. Whilst we had a small flight, other arrived from Asia and the United States. With two major airports, there a literally dozens of options for you to fly here.
Istanbul is definitely a place where East meets West, Asia meeting Europe. It is full of culture and despite a few problems in the last 12 months, we have been here twice and have felt completely safe and assured whilst walking and visiting the city.
Our go-to hotel is the W Istanbul. This is the second time we have stayed here and have been impressed both times. The only sad let down is that the Breakfast A la carte menu wasn’t available =(. Nonetheless, it is a boutique gem with a great location, you can read more about it here, and watch our video on our journey here.
If you want to stay here, book it right here!
During our journey, we also had time to spend some time at The St Regis and The Kempinski that both look stunning.
We loved the chance to meet some of the most successful people in the travel blogging world. Like minded people who are driven and focused. The Welcome Dinner gave us all a chance to mingle prior to the forum starting which was a great way to break the ice.
On the first day of the conference, being able to watch the President of Turkey speak (although my Turkish isn’t any good) about his hopes and dreams for the country was inspiring. After a day of speeches and talks, we let our hair down at the Blogger Dinner. We partied and danced the night away into the wee hours of the morning.
On the second day, before the conference, we woke up very early with Tom to go shoot some photos around Turkey. The talks started with Zach King and listening to him talk about his success story certainly inspired AdventureFaktory to push new limits. After that, it was great to listen to other fellow Travel Bloggers and other professionals of the travel & hospitality industry talk about what they do best.
For us, the ultimate highlight was the chance to connect with Tourism boards from around the world. A huge thanks has to go to Murat and his team from BloggerCasting for choosing us to attend and allowing us to be a part of this superb event. We have learnt more from this event then the last year of teaching ourselves. Murat and Tugce has founded that agency in the big confidence that us bloggers can contribute strongly to any marketing campaigns initiated by brands. (When there is a fit of course!)
Lastly, our fellow bloggers, made the whole experience fun and crazy and so fulfilling. We can’t wait to see to see you all around the world! Keeping checking our website for our ultimate city guide of Istanbul, coming soon. (It was about time after a second visit eh?)
Huge thank you again to Blogger Casting, Turkish Airlines, World Tourism Forum and W Istanbul.
