Sitemap and Robots.txt are very important for proper indexing of your website from search engines. There is many information in your website which you do not want to get indexed from search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing. Hence to improve your website performance you need to create a robots.txt file and Upload it to the Root Directory of your website. Same way Sitemap helps to guide search engines to crawl through all the important section of the websites. This all techniques will help to improve your blog performance which later will generate good amount of traffic to your blog or website. Now, let us say you have created a robots.txt file and sitemap of your website. Now, once you have created them, you need to upload these files in your root directory of the domain or website. So, let us check how we can add these files in the root directory of your website.

Login to your hosting domain
For uploading the robots.txt and sitemap file, you have to enter into your website file manager by login in your blog hosting details as shown below.
Next, when you have logged in to your hosting domain section, you will have to look for “File Manager” (as shown below) to upload the robots.txt and sitemap file.

Now, just click the File Manager, it will show the files section of your domain as shown in the below picture. Remember, here you have to upload the robot.txt and sitemap file in the “public_html” folder. Now, select this folder as shown below.
Now, we have to upload the robots.txt and sitemap file. Just click the upload icon as shown above, to upload the files. Once you click it, you will see a window as shown below.
Now, choose your robots.txt and sitemap files and upload in the root directory of your website. Finally, once it is upload you can see the added files in the respective folder as shown below. Once added, you can check your robot.txt file in http://www.yourdomain.com/robots.txt
So, now you would have clearly understood how easily you can upload your robots.txt and sitemap file in root directory of your website. You can also upload these files through FTP using FileZilla.
