Google Attempts to Revamp News Portal By Giving It a New Look

By this point it would be hard to dispute Google’s status as one of the most important Tech companies in the world, as well as being a hub for all kinds of information that one might want to find online. However, one area that Google has failed to dominate is news. While the tech juggernaut has tried its level best to become a central news hub, it has failed to pick up as much steam as the corporation might have hoped.

With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that Google is not giving up that easily because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up impacting other areas of its business as well. The tech company has just revamped its Google News hub, giving it a fresher look that is a bit easier on the eyes with all things having been considered and taken into account.

Google is clearly moving away from the endless scroll model that causes the doom scroll effect and is instead going for a more professional look. The news page is now titled Your Briefing, ostensibly in an attempt to drive home the point that this is where users should go to start their day.

There is definitely a high demand for a hub for news that users can control. In spite of the fact that this is the case, there might be some hesitancy to use this portal from Google because of concerns surrounding censorship and being at the mercy of the algorithm.

All of these concerns are valid, and users should always strive to use a diverse range of news sources instead of relying on just one. However, Google’s fresh new News page looks really good, so it seems likely that many users would be flocking to it to get their daily news fix. Whether or not this would help stem the spread of misinformation remains to be seen, but Google has been adamant about the fight against fake news so there is much to be hopeful for.
