Today’s prompt is: INSPIRE

The fifth and final reason (for this series, anyway) I believe it’s important to share your Story is because some people may be inspired to change in meaningful ways. 

As with yesterday’s reason about bringing comfort, you and I have no idea how God will use the Inspirational words in your testimony to impact others for good. 

In the case of my memoir, I shared a personal story about holding onto bitterness in one particular relationship for years. As in, a decade of bitterness. 

Though I knew the Lord wanted me to forgive and ask for forgiveness, I continued to put it off and put it off, until one day the Holy Spirit’s prompting became too strong for me to resist. I tell the story in my book about one day in college when I finally called the person I had treated so badly and asked for forgiveness. 

I’ll admit, I debated for a long time whether I should include that portion in my book. I had a number of reasons why I should cut it out, but I prayed, “Lord, even if one person needs to read this story, make me keep these words in the book.” 

I didn’t expect to ever learn whether or how God might use that particular chapter, but He generously allowed me to hear of one powerful testimony. One of my readers took the time to write to me and tell me how that particular chapter prompted her to reconcile with her mother after years of a strained relationship. 

I got goosebumps when I read this person’s testimony. Only God could have done that. 

Only God.
