Bluetooth Speaker Ultimate Buying Guide

Bluetooth speakers come with various features, but some are more important than others. Through our years reviewing speakers, we know first-hand which features are critical for sound quality. We focused on these features during our review, and you should, too, if you want to purchase the best unit.

1. Sound Quality - The most important consideration is obviously sound quality. For this, frequency response is an important factor. They are measured in hertz and range anywhere from 100Hz-20,000Hz. Generally, the wider the range, the better the audio quality. The 20k Hz is the top frequency, and the 100Hz is the low frequency. For bass, the low frequency is important. The lower it goes, the better. Other than frequency, drivers are also an important factor. The bigger the drivers, the better. Generally, drivers come in 40mm size, but some even boast 58mm drivers.

2. Build Quality - Build quality is another important consideration. If you don't want to keep purchasing speakers every now and then, ensure that they're constructed of durable materials. You should also make sure that it comes with an IPX rating. Some speakers have an IPX4 rating which means that it is splash and shower resistant whereas IPX7 speaker can be submerged underwater for a few minutes. The higher the rating, the better.

3. Battery Backup - If you listen to music for long hours and want uninterrupted playtime, battery life is essential. Generally, most speakers provide up to 14 hours of playtime, whereas some can even play for more than 20 hours. Especially for Bluetooth speakers, make sure that the battery life is as long as you need. Additionally, how long the battery takes to charge is important. This depends on the battery size, and it generally takes about 4 hours to charge. It's important that you never leave your batteries discharged.

4. Portability - Portability is another important factor, especially if you like carrying your speaker from one place to another. For this, you must consider the size, weight, style, and design. Some speakers even feature wheels and a handle for increased portability. If it comes with many features, there's a high chance that it might be a heavier unit. You might have to sacrifice some features if you want portability.

5. Price - In the end, your budget might be the most important factor. Bluetooth speakers are available in a vast price range. The more features it has, the pricier it'll be, but you don't need to pay a hefty price for a speaker with features that you don't even need. The rule of thumb is to get the speaker with the most features under your budget.

Final Verdict

This brings us to the end of our list of the best speakers for the garage. They are all fantastic units, and they made it to our list due to their features, durability, and audio quality. It's tough to pick the best one, but if we had to, it would be the Anker Soundcore Motion Boom Speaker due to its sound quality and durability. On the other hand, if you’re shopping under a budget, the OontZ Angle 3 Bluetooth Speaker is a total value for money and performs better than most units twice its price.
