Patience and its high correlation with big data analytics

Whenever we take an advice from an elder such as parents, teachers or read something on internet regarding learning something which is new and difficult, we receive certain advices from these sources. Those comprise of having faith, confidence, positive attitude and many other factors. Another key factor about which we hear a lot is “Patience”. Patience is something which today’s and upcoming generation lacks. The current and future generation has become so impatient that they desire to complete all of their work in almost no time. Whenever they are learning something new, they just want to learn it quickly like in some hours without realizing that learning anything takes considerable amount of time. Once Mr. Michelangelo quoted that “Genius is eternal patience”. This quote has made me understand that becoming something different requires you to have a significant amount of patience concurring with self-confidence.

Although it is same for every Field, but still certain fields are present in the job industry where students, job seekers and current employees lack patience to learn vital concepts or get a job or get promoted respectively. One of the most prominent fields related to this example is the field of big data. Big data is a field which requires no introduction. It has proved itself as an imperative field and in today’s time no other field has gained popularity as much as big data analytics have ascertained. But since it has gained extreme popularity, it has attracted masses of individuals who are entering this field in order to make a fruitful career. But since the number of people entering this field is huge and because of more and more recent developments and expeditious changing trends, individuals enrolled into the field of big data want to learn every new facet or methods that have been introduced. Although it is not a bad thing but loss of patience while learning something which is interminable is something which is not acceptable in today’s fast-growing world. Within my personal experiences, I have tackled several instances which demanded high patience from my side.

For instance, I have seen that big data predominantly involves cleaning of huge data sets before it can be used for analysis. Cleaning data is such a tedious task that sometimes it takes several days to clean only one dataset. This task requires a great deal of patience as even one small step avoided or misinterpreted during data cleaning can lead to formation of incorrect structure of data which can lead to devastating results. Another major facet of big data that requires great deal of patience is keeping up with the ever-growing subjects that are redefining big data analytics. It usually happens that a person gets disheartened when he learns that certain concepts which he learnt has some advancements in it or a totally new concept has arrived in that subject. At this point of time, the person’s patience starts to fade away and he tries to mug up all the concepts without realizing the fact that learning the new concepts requires proficiency in the previous concepts. These are some of the major instances which can determine the level of patience which is required while learning big data.

In the end I would like to conclude that patience is one such aspect that has a strong correlation with big data analytics and without the presence of patience , it is difficult to sustain in the field of big data for long term.
