Due to their expertise in data science and quest to achieve something over its biggest competitor Walmart , they did something which nobody had expected them to do. In order to get a upper hand on its competition, Target used Data Science and Analytics to predict habits of their customers who were expecting a baby. Using advanced algorithms and predictive modeling they not only increased their sales for diapers but were also able to enhance their sales for vitamin supplements, various kinds of foods for pregnant women and much more. It clearly depicted the power of 3V’s i.e. Volume,Velocity and Variety of Big Data. It also demonstrated that any idea or situation studied and analyzed through Data Science can be converted into a tremendous opportunity for any organization.
