Starting my RHCSA training

Hi all. So I decided to finally get this started after a Couple of years undecided and just hanging around in a 2nd line role doing desktop certs. It's not what I want to do for the rest of my life and I need to start specializing my skills in a certain area. Linux is what I've wanted to get into for a while now and the ball is in motion. I spent a year in my previous role using RedHat. The company trained me up and I really enjoyed the work. This was a couple of years ago now and my memory of a lot of the commands isn't great, but I feel like I can skip the Linux+ and go straight into this.

What I'd like to find out from you guys is how you started off in Linux, with the RHCSA but overall in general. At the moment I've set up a RedHat environment at home and just playing around with it really. I've got a command cheat sheet from a few years back and going to look at tasks to do online.

How long did it take you to train for and pass the RHCSA? What resources did you use? I plan on doing my RHCE after so I plan on really investing on some hard study material and will probably keep practicing each day for a good 6 months before I even consider taking the exam.

Also, would you suggest it's worth spending time learning some scripting languages in the meantime like Python or Powershell? Should I also look at doing some SQL work on purely just focus on Linux for now? Any help is much appreciated.
