Windows 10 Product Editions
Microsoft launched many versions of Windows 10. The various Windows 10 product editions are to be sold to end users directly and with current markets of mobile phones, tablets and PCs. Some confusion and bewilderment might address some of the consumers as the Windows 10 product editions are just too many.
As of now, let’s just check out the Windows 10 product editions and discuss how different they are from each other.
Windows 10 Mobile.
The smartphone worthy edition is an upgraded version of Windows Phone 8.1. It has been targeted to be useful in mini-tablets, phablets and of course smartphones. Only available to existing Windows 8.1 users, this edition is not for sale in retail.
Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise.
The Volume Licensing customers have been made available this edition. Being smart enough to determine the time and process of delivering the updates(except the latest security updates), this edition boasts of giving everything in Windows 10 with the efficiency of managing businesses.
Windows 10 Home.
WIndows 8.1 Core also got its upgrade in the form of Windows 10 Home. Aimed at devices such as tablets, 2-in-1s and PCs, Windows 10 Home is a free upgrade to Windows 7 or 8 based devices till a complete year of Windows 10 upgrade.
Windows 10 Pro.
And no doubt this is the upgraded version of Windows 8.1 Pro which is built on Windows 10 home obviously after adding a list of features that includes device management, remote desktop and the coming Windows Update for Business cloud service.Windows 10 Pro too, is a free upgrade to Windows 7 or 8 based devices till a complete year of Windows 10 upgrade.
Windows 10 Enterprise.
Same as before Windows 10 Enterprise is an upgraded edition of Windows 8.1 Enterprise. It is an adjacent colleague(sometimes superior) of Windows 10 Pro.
With plus features it is targeted at medium and large sized businesses. With the freedom to choose when and how the updates are going to be installed and Software Assurance, Windows 10 Enterprise is only available to Volume Licensing customers.
Windows 10 Education.
Available only through academic Volume Licensing and as the name suggests, it has been made especially for teachers, students, school staff and administrators. It is necessarily the Windows 7 Enterprise for educational institutions.
It can be upgraded from Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro and the difference between Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Education is still unknown.
– Versions of Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise for vertical devices like ATMs, retail point of sale (PoS), handheld terminals and industrial robotics.
– Windows 10 IoT Core for small footprint, low cost devices like Raspberry Pi 2.
– Tailored versions of Windows 10 for Xbox One, Microsoft HoloLens and Surface Hub.
