Iman proved her resilience Wednesday in New York at Tom Ford’s fall 2016 runway show, where the 61-year-old beloved model made her first public appearance since the passing of her late husband David Bowie in January.
The Somali-born star wore an Yves blue, double-breasted velvet suit designed by Ford himself for the occasion and dazzled as she carried a crocodile clutch, posing for the cameras with nothing but panache. And while the appearance itself wowed, it’s her excitement about us that makes us smile. Iman took to Instagram to chronicle her evening.
She first started in the hair and makeup chair and shared a glowing selfie with a towel wrapped around her head. “My first night out attending an event since last year!” she wrote as the caption to the ‘gram.

Later, she caught up with fellow supermodel Cindy Crawford and thanked Ford for a “very glam” night out.

The most touching part of the evening? She wore a gold necklace that simply says “David” on it in memory of her love. The beauty shared a photo with a caption that explains its meaning. “I’m wearing this until my death. Hedi Slimane made it for me. It just says ‘David,’” she told Good Morning America.
