Nitgen Fingerprint Scanner Driver “Download” + “How to Install” Guide

We recently published tutorials on how to install “Windows Biometric Framework (WBF)” and “SecuGen Legacy” drivers. Today we’re going to show you how to install Nitgen Fingerprint scanner driver on your computer.

Nitgen biometric devices, Nitgen Fingkey Hamster I (Model: HFDU06), Hamster II (Model: HFDU14) and Hamster III (Model: HFDU06S), are USB fingerprint scanners manufactured by Nitgen. These devices help you capture fingerprint images and save it on your computer.

Nitgen biometric devices are USB based and can get connected through a USB port of your computer. Software developers can use these devices in their application along with a fingerprint SDK (software development kit). These scanners support various third party fingerprint software applications.

In order to use these devices in your application, you need “driver” for these scanners. The scanner driver allows these devices to communicate with your computer. The driver needs to be manually installed on your computer.

While you install the driver, the fingerprint image capture software also gets installed on your computer and is readily available for you to use. The fingerprint capture software allows you to store fingerprint images on your computer as BMP (bitmap image file) image files.

The following guide will show you how to install the driver and use the fingerprint capture software.

System Requirement

Interface: USB 2.0

RAM: 16 MB

Disk Space: 20 MB (free)

Operating System: Micro Soft Windows 98 (second edition or later version)/ME/2000/XP/2003/Vista/7/8/10

Nitgen Fingerprint Scanner Driver Installation

Before installing the Drivers, please unplug the fingerprint scanner.

Step 1: Please download the drivers for Nitgen Scanners from – https://www.bayometric.com/fingerprint-sensor-driver/.

Step 2: Unzip the downloaded files.

Step 3: Double click on Setup.exe.

Step 4: Select the right Model and Click on Install.

Step 5: Plug in the Device and click on Next.

Step 6: Unplug the device and plug it back in and click on OK.

Step 7: Installation Complete: Once the installation is successful you should receive this message.

Step 8: Open Device Manager and you will see the correct device.

Capturing and Storing fingerprint images on your computer

Nitgen Fingkey Hamster Device allows you to capture and store fingerprint images on your computer. The next section of our Guide will show you how you can easily store fingerprint images on your PC.

Step 1: Click Start-Run to run the testing program OR Go to Windows Search and search for NFD.exe.

Step 2: Device Scan and Initialization – Click on “Device Scan” to display the list of all devices in the system. Once you see the device in the drop down menu, click on Init.

Step 3: Click on Auto On. This ensures that the device is always ready for a new finger.

Step 4: Place your finger on the fingerprint scanner. You will see the fingerprint image on your screen. Right click on the image and click on Save Image.

The Nitgen fingerprint driver software also has many other features like fingerprint enrollment, fingerprint matching, quality check etc. We will discuss these in our next tutorial.
