Entry-Level ‘Made in India’ Vivo Y53i Smartphone Launched

Another entry-level Smartphone has quietly made its way to the Indian markets. Chinese manufacturer Vivo has introduced a new variant of the Vivo Y53 that had launched last year. The new smartphone called Vivo Y53i is pretty similar to its predecessor in terms of looks and design. Also, the smartphone falls under the “Made in India” branding.

The Vivo Y53i smartphone has been priced at Rs. 7,990 and will compete with smartphones like Xiaomi Redmi 5 which fall under the similar budget. As of now, the company is yet to reveal official details about the smartphone. So, there is no news on the official availability of the smartphone in the country.

Vivo Y53i: Specifications

The latest Vivo smartphone comes with a 5-inch qHD IPS display with a screen resolution of 540×960 pixels. It is fuelled by a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC, paired with Adreno 308 GPU. In terms of software, Vivo Y53i runs on FunTouch OS 3.0 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Additionally, even Vivo Y53 launched with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Seeing how Android 8.0 Oreo is nearing its one year anniversary, the company could have upgraded in terms of software. Furthermore, the storage features on the phone include 2GB RAM with an internal storage of 16GB. The onboard storage can be expandable up to 256GB with a MicroSD card.

As for the camera functions, the smartphone houses an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. On the front, there is a 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling. Moreover, connectivity features on the smartphone include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth v4.2 and a Micro-USB port. As for the battery, the smartphone is powered by a 2500mAh battery.

Meanwhile, seeing the price and the specifications, it is safe to say that the phone lacks in terms of updated features when compared to its competitors. Y53i definitely comes under the smartphones below Rs 10,000 category. Nevertheless, it will face a tough time competing with smartphones with a similar price range.
