AirAsia, Cebu Pacific, PAL issue advisory against use of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on board

AirAsia, Cebu Pacific Air and Philippine Airlines issued advisory against the use of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on board. This is after Samsung recalled millions of Galaxy Note 7 sold worldwide. Reports said that the devices can catch fire while charging.

Budget carrier Cebu Pacific was first to release their advisory saying that they won’t be allowing the usage and charging of the device across all CEB and Cebgo flights starting September 11. The company won’t be allowing the said device to be stowed in checked baggage as well. Passengers may opt to handcarry it instead but must be turned off while inside the aircraft.

The flagship carrier Philippine Airlines followed next with the same policy as its competitor. Their advisory was posted on their official Facebook account today, September 12.

Low-cost airline AirAsia also banned Samsung Galaxy Note 7 in all of its AirAsia and AirAsia X flights.

Local carriers are just a few of airline companies issuing alerts against the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Singapore Airlines, Qantas and Virgin Australia also released similar advisories to their customers.
