Snapdeal opens up Indian markets to Japanese SMEs via partnership with JETRO

As Snapdeal reels under heavy operational crisis, the company is now eyeing to expand its International brand portfolio. As a result of those ambitions, the company will now sell consumer products of various SME brands from Japan via a fresh partnership with Japan Trade Organization (JETRO).  The JETRO-Snapdeal partnership will label products under categories like electronics, accessories, kitchenware, personal care; which will be directly delivered by the platform itself.

On the other hand, the companies and brands equated with the organisation will gain an access to widely diversified and extensively large Indian market. JETRO aims to develop a niche space among the consumers over a few years with its presence on the online marketplace.

Speaking of the extended reach in Japan, Mr.Vishal Chadha, Senior Vice President, Business, Snapdeal said,

We are very proud to be the exclusive partners with JETRO and look forward to our association. By way of this partnership, we are confident that we will be able to showcase the best of Japanese SMEs and bring a wide assortment of high-quality Japanese products to the Indian market. 

Snapdeal will also open an exclusive e-store showcasing specially curated a slew of products. This store will exhibit contact lenses, stationery, electronic device accessories, kitchenware, personal care, storage and sewing equipment as well. The e-tailer further desires to cater to all needs of its customers and to add more brands and products to JETRO’s ensemble over time. It presently engages over 125k regional, national, and international brands and retailers and has a reach of about 3 Lakh sellers across India.

Expressing his views on the association, Mr. Kazuya Nakajo, Chief Director General of JETRO India, said,

We are delighted to partner with Snapdeal and bring a wide range of Japanese products to India. In Snapdeal, we have found an ideal platform for new Japanese companies to promote products which will not only help them gain visibility in front of thousands of potential customers but also act as a stepping stone for them to build their brand and presence in India.

Japanese consumer products are well received by consumers all over the Asian countries. They are a preferred choice over the products from other countries. Snapdeal hopes to allure the shoppers with its latest range of international products in order to retain its existing consumer base.
