Last month at the Mobile World Congress, Samsung took the wraps off its latest flagship bet — Galaxy Tab S3 — targetted towards the Android tablet ecosystem. The South Korean giant spent most of the time during launch to focus on its productivity-focused features. But was, however, a little short on pricing and availability details until today.
Samsung has today confirmed that the Galaxy Tab S3 will become available in the U.S for a hefty price tag of $599.99 the next week. It has further added that the tablet can be pre-ordered from Samsung’s official website as well as e-tailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, and others, starting tomorrow. And the device will be available in stores this Friday i.e March 24, but the pricing is expected to vary slightly depending on the retailer.
As for the specifications, the Galaxy Tab S3 sports 9.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a 2048×1536 pixels screen resolution. This display, which is packed in the glass body of the tablet, is the highlight feature that is capable of providing HDR playback. This tablet has been powered by an older-gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, coupled with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. The same can further be extended up to 256 GB using a memory card.
Further, the tablet also includes a 13-megapixel camera on the rear and 5-megapixel shooter to satisfy your selfie needs. It is equipped with a set of 4 auto-calibrated speakers that can reposition themselves depending on how the tablet is being held at a particular instant. It also includes S Pen support, which allows you to draw, write, capture screen shots, record GIFs, and do literally anything S Pens are capable of. The aforementioned speakers are tuned by audio brand AKG.
The spectacular display is backed by a massive 6,000 mAh battery with fast charging capabilities. The tablet also brings along the latest USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer capabilities. It also runs on the latest flavor of Android 7.0 Nougat. Other connectivity features packed in this device are 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, optional LTE connectivity. It provides support for external keyboards with Pogo pins but it will set you back another $129.99.
Taking the higher end of our expectations, the Korean hardware giant has aggressively priced the high-end Galaxy Tab S3. It currently falls under the same category and competes against Apple’s 9.7-inch iPad Pro, which provides similar specifications in this price range. But, reports suggest that Apple is now looking to replace the said model (which might get a price cut) with a new 10.5-inch iPad model. Thus the new, as well as the old iPad Pro models could prove to be detrimental to the sale of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S3.
