The firm is all set to invest $561 million (£330 million) in the centre which will comprise latest development labs completely focused on Advanced Manufacturing, software development, hardware and robotics.

Dyson designs and manufactures domestic cleaning hardware products. It has maintained its position in over 70 countries by high-tech specialisation in them. The firm expanded into Singapore in 2007 and now has a team of 1100 in both, in the manufacturing facility at West Park and newly opened Technology Centre at Science Park I.

The new facility also includes The Control Tower, which will depict real-time supply chain and logistics data, and which they use to check whether smooth operations are carried out in terms of terms of global production and shipping.

It is now planning to extend the island nation-based engineering team by 50 per cent. This implies the new centre and its advanced manufacturing team will create 190 more jobs, including 160 positions for research scientists and engineers over the next five years. The employed teams will target to developing novel technologies for the future.

During the launch of the facility, Trade and Industry Minister S Iswaran said the successful partnership between Singapore and Dyson is attributed to the strong alignment between the firm’s ambition to be a global technology leader and the nation’s vision of developing an innovation-led economy.
