Now Jeff Weiner speaks out on immigration ban: Everyone should have access to opportunities

The tech community has been surprisingly vocal about president Trump’s recent ban to immigrants from a number of middle eastern countries. While top executives from Google, Facebook, Microsoft and Uber have all spoken  out against the ban, Lyft and Google have also donated substantial amounts of money to the ACLU, which is fighting a legal battle against Trump’s executive order.

The latest to speak out against the order and stress upon the importance of Providing Equal Opportunities to everyone, is none other than LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner.

In a post on LinkedIn, Weiner has stressed upon the importance of providing equal Opportunities to everyone — regardless of the ethnicity to which they belong. He has gone on to back his statement with a pretty interesting factual nugget — which is that 40 percent of Fortune 500 companies have been founded by immigrants or their children.

And in many cases, this has been possible only because these immigrants were able to travel to the US and able to make use of all the fantastic resources and opportunities that are available there. After all, the country is not known as the “land of opportunities” for nothing. Weiner’s statement reflects what many other Americans have also been stressing upon of late.

There are certainly others as well, who are talking about boycotting Uber and Lyft because of their respective statements against the ban. However the majority of the common Americans, from what I have been able to gauge, have been speaking out against the ban.

Meanwhile, we are keeping an eye on the developments and will update you as soon as any occur. Stay Tuned.
