Meizu launches M5 Note with 5.5-inch FHD display and 4GB RAM

Meizu, the China-based smartphone manufacturer has today launched its latest device — Meizu M5 Note. It is the successor of M3 Note, which was launched last year.

The phone features a 5.5-inch full HD display with screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and LTPS 2.5D curved glass on top. It is powered by 1.8GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor with Mali T860 GPU. The phone supports memory expansion up to 128GB.

In terms of memory, the phone comes in two variants — 3GB RAM with 16GB or 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage. The smartphone comes with Meizu’s signature mBack fingerprint sensor embedded into the home button that can unlock the phone in just 0.2 seconds.

The device sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, PDAF, f/2.2 aperture. It also has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and 4P lens. On the connectivity front, M5 Note supports 4G VoLTE, dual-band WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and hybrid dual-SIM (nano+nano/microSD).

ThoughAndroid Nougat is now officially live, the phone still runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Flyme OS 6.0 on top. The major highlight of the phone is its battery capacity. It comes with a 4,000 mAh battery and can be fully charged in 90 minutes. The phone measures 8.15mm in thickness and weighs 175g.

The Meizu M5 Note comes in three colour options – Silver Champagne Gold, Blue and Grey. The 3GB RAM and 16GB ROM variant is priced at 899 Yuan (approx. Rs. 8,990) while the 32GB ROM model costs 999 Yuan (approx. Rs. 9,990). The 4GB RAM and 64GB RAM version is priced at 1,499 Yuan (approx. Rs. 14,990).

While the phone has been launched in China, Meizu has not yet revealed any details about its pricing and availability in other markets. If the phone gets launched in India with similar pricing as of China, it will compete with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, Coolpad Note 5 and Honor Holly 3.
