If you want to use the cross-app chat feature on Instagram, you need to update the latest version of the apps from Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Also, to send messages from Messenger to Instagram contacts, users should download the most latest version of the application.

Once updated, a user can utilize the cross messaging feature on both Android and iOS devices.

Cross-app messaging feature on Instagram

Step 1: First, open the Instagram app on your device.

Step 2: Next, tap your Profile picture.

Step 3: On the new screen tap Menu (Hamburg icon)

Step 4: Now from the given options, tap Settings.

Step 5: On the new screen, tap the Privacy option.

Step 6: Now, tap on the Message option.

From here you can choose whether message requests go to your Chats list, your Message Requests folder, or whether to get them by any means.

Cross-app messaging feature on Facebook

Step 1: First, open the Facebook messenger app on your device.

Step 2: Next, tap your Profile picture.

Step 3: On the new screen, go to Privacy under Preferences.

Step 4: At last, select Message Delivery.

From here you can choose whether message requests go to your Chats list, your Message Requests folder, or whether to get them by any means.

You can change the settings from the given choices on both Instagram and Facebook Messenger application. The version additionally included some different features for Instagram which incorporate changing the chat colors, reacting with emojis, swiping to answer to messages, and making selfie stickers.
