The Google Assistant has been a real competition to Apple’s Siri and Windows Cortana. The Assistant has come up with great features in the past months since it comes integrated with the Google Home devices, which basically let you control your smart home appliances by just asking. Google Assistant has played a very significant role in the buildup of smartphones as it helps the user further simplify the tasks.
The Google Assistant was previously only compatible with devices running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and above but as of today its officially compatible with the devices running Android 5.0 Lollipop as well. The Assistant can not only be found on smartphones and tablets but also on Android smartwatches. Android tablets which are running on Android 6.0 and 7.0 can expect Google Assistant in the coming weeks, although it’ll be only be available to the devices whose device language is set to English in the US only.
For users who haven’t yet upgraded from their Android 5.0 devices, this is actually good news. There are a lot of people who still use devices which run on Android Lollipop and hence the reach has been expanded. According to a report from Google, more than 26 percent devices still run on Android Lollipop and 30 percent run Android Marshmallow. Updating the Google Play Services on your Android Lollipop device can benefit you get the Google Assistant update.
Google Assistant on smartphones with Android 5.0 has started rolling out to users with English set as their language in the US, UK, India, Canada, Singapore, and Australia. Users with their language set as Spanish in the US, Mexico, and Spain will also be getting the Assistant.
Google Assistant is a very useful feature and very helpful, it allows the users to carry out simple tasks which take minutes to go through. Such as setting alarms, creating shopping list, reminders, asking for directions, weather, etc. In my opinion, Google Assistant is very useful in our day-to-day life activities and also its fun to just talk to it or laugh at her jokes.
