The Friday Roundup – Understanding Creativity and Transition Tips

You’re Not Boring… But You Don’t Understand Creativity

There is a false Idea that has perpetuated probably for thousands of years that creative people are somehow blessed with some kind of creative trait or deviation from the norm that makes them that way.

This is why a lot of people think they are not “creative enough” to come up with ideas or feel they have run out of ideas very fast.

None of that is true.

The reality is that the vast majority of people are having ideas on an almost constant basis throughout every waking moment of their lives.

It’s what minds do!

The only difference between the “creative” and the not so creative is that creative people are aware of these ideas and are aware that they need to catch those ideas then turn them into something real.

NO magic involved really.

In Camera Whip Transition

This is a great little standby Transition that is very effective and very easy to pull off.

You can do it inside of most advanced video editors by adding blur to a slide transition but in reality it is just as easy to pull off in camera.

The only real difference is that in camera you need to know you are going to use it beforehand in the final edit and maybe practice it a few times to get it smooth.

Spin / Rotate Pictures & Videos – PowerDirector

There are a lot of preset tools in most video editing software for manipulating objects and making them behave in certain ways.

The main difference between the more advanced video editors like PowerDirector and other more simple programs is that you can go way beyond those simple presets if you want.

In the video below you can see how to make an object spin in the video and sure, there is probably a preset in there somewhere to do that.

However the object itself is a football so it is not perfectly round and the only way to realistically do it is to manually take control.

Check out how to do that in the video below.

Video Editing Made Easy: Flick Loop Effect – PowerDirector Tutorial

So all the cool kids on the TikTok are doing the flick effect on a loop.

I know this because I have a son who keeps me somewhat connected to the real world as it exists rather than how I remember it.

So here’s how you do it!

How to Create Smoother Transitions in VideoStudio

In the new version of Corel VideoStudio 2023 they have added a few more transitions to the gazillion that already ship with the program.

To me that’s not real big news because honestly I probably use three transitions regularly and maybe one or two others on odd occasions.

The real good news is that for many of the transitions both new and existing they have added more adjustments that can be made within the transition’s settings.

The problem with using “canned” transitions is not necessarily the transition itself.

It’s the fact that they are added with default settings that are often “OK” for the situation but not exactly perfect for the effect you want.

That’s why it is rare for a good editor to just slap on a transition and walk away.

The really good editors add that preset transition then go into the settings and adjust to perfectly suit the situation.

THIS Will Make Your Videos Go Viral! Mr Beast Secret Revealed

OK let’s set some realistic goals here because I highly doubt that just copying some technique from Mr Beast is going to send your next video viral!

Having said that there is still great merit in observing what very successful YouTubers like Mr Beast are doing and replicating that in your own videos.

To be clear here, I don’t mean flat out copying them! That’s an idea end you definitely do not want to go with.

How to Create and Set Up a Youtube Channel in 2023 – Complete Beginner’s Tutorial

So it must be about time for an up to date “How to” video on setting up a YouTube Channel!

I used to have one on this website but I found that the YouTube platform was evolving and changing so fast I did not have the time to keep up.

The interface keeps changing and more importantly what YouTube considers to be important also keeps changing so here’s all the latest.

How to Edit Sound Design – Tutorial

First up no, I am not delusional enough to think that you and I are going to be approaching sound design in our projects the same way as a Hollywood blockbuster!

However the video below is a start to finish demonstration of the entire process and is a fascinating watch.

The kicker is that they go through it twice to make the second one completely different to the first illustrating the power of sound in any video project.

7 Factors to Making a Successful YouTube Video

Most of the content I post here on the Friday Roundup from Daniel Batal is generally confined to tutorials from him on video editing.

Truth is that Daniel’s YouTube channel is actually about being successful on YouTube and not about video editing.

The video editing part only came about when he was getting a lot of questions about editing so he was just answering them occasionally when the questions had piled up a bit.

So, the video below covers the real subject that he is an expert in.
