Disabling Computrace LoJack and DDS

BlackFog now provides the ability to disable Computrace, Absolute LoJack (formerly LoJack for Laptops) and DDS. BlackFog Privacy is the only product on the market which offers this functionality.

Disable Computrace LoJack DDS

Installed on hundreds of millions of computers globally this software is used to track the location and inventory the software on your Computer in the background. Often used to stop the theft of computers and perform forensic analysis of your machine it can perform everything from screen captures to key logging.

This product is often used by companies to protect corporate computers. Unfortunately, it is also incorrectly activated on millions of devices by flashing the BIOS of machines on the factory floor from major OEM manufacturers such as Lenovo, Dell etc. Most customers do not even realize it is activated because it masquerades inside other system processes. There is a good technical white paper produced by Kaspersky who have analyzed its behavior in detail (Absolute Backdoor Revisited). This was also presented at the BlackHat conference in 2014.

BlackFog can automatically detect whether Computrace is running in trial mode. With a full license you can also disable the product on your computer to prevent it from collecting data. Simply choose the relevant checkbox in the Network options and  run a privacy scan to detect and disable the software on your device.
