The LG G5, in pictures

The LG G5 was announced yesterday, the same day as Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, and we thought it fitting to take time after the event to provide a Photo Gallery for LG’s latest flagship smartphone that will likely bring some buzz back to Samsung’s Korean rival.

LG took a different approach with the LG G5 than normal: whereas former flagships such as the G2, G3, and G4 all featured excellent displays and sought to maintain more of a faux metal/plastic look, the LG G5 breaks with tradition and goes all in with a modular design: the bottom of the LG G5 can be pulled out to reveal the removable Battery of the LG G5 headset. Additionally, LG’s new Cam Plus provides an additional 1200mAh battery to go alongside of the pre-installed 2,800mAh battery already placed within the flagship, though we tend to think it’ll help you get a little while longer out of the battery life (but not much more).

LG unveiled its own 360 VR headset, alongside of the Cam Plus and a hi-fi audio device called the LG Hi-Fi Plus that features B&O audio. LG did not reveal how much these external devices would cost, but these are part of what LG’s so-called magic slot on the LG G5 and the company’s new “Friends” accessories are all about.

The LG G5 is considered to be a unique take on smartphones as we know it, with the company wanting to buck the trend that buying a smartphone or even shopping for one can be boring nowadays. While I disagree with the company’s stance on the smartphone experience, I can say that the LG G5 certainly tries to break the mold of what consumers have come to expect from the company. The Korean manufacturer is trying something different with the LG G5, and we wish LG the best of luck in its endeavor to generate some brand consciousness.

The LG G5 features a 5.3-inch, Quad HD IPS Quantum Dot display with a 2,560 x 1,440p screen resolution, a quad-core, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 8MP front camera, 16MP back camera, 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 2,800mAh Removable Battery, and 32GB of storage with a microSD card slot for up to 2TB of expandable storage (2 terabytes!).

For those who didn’t get to see the announcement, you can always take a look at our photo gallery below — and then go buy the LG G5 for yourself.
