Growth of Digital Marketing

There is always a rising star in every profession. They come out of nowhere to dominate the competition and rise to the top. In sports, it’s the promising rookie, fresh out of school and ready to prove himself. In business, it’s the passionate intern, learning what it will take to be the best. In marketing, digital is the rising star.

Digital Marketing has many faces, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Pay-Per-Click (PPC), social ads (Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, etc.), retargeting ads, email marketing, and the list goes on and on and on…

Times are changing, people aren’t buying newspapers like they used to, and television ads are too expensive for most businesses to pursue. Digital marketing allows businesses of every size to reach their target audience wherever they are and where they’ll always be looking; on their mobile devices or desktops.

The average American spends over five hours a day on their desktop or mobile phone. Social media is quietly ruling the world. The number of online shoppers is growing quickly, and even more shoppers will research a product online before finally going to purchase in-store.

Before digital marketing existed, businesses were unable to know who was visiting their store or website without the customer making a purchase. Now, visiting customers can be tracked, data can be recorded, and educated sales pitches and site updates can be made. These are just a few of the benefits that digital marketing has to offer.

Businesses are catching on, and digital is growing fast. In 2014, companies spent 25% of their marketing budget on digital services; that number is expected to grow to 75% by 2019.

Each service that digital marketing has to offer is valuable. 93% of all online experiences begin with a search engine, and SEO can put your listing up on top. This is even more critical once you know that 75% of users never scroll past the first page of search results.

PPC is just as valuable. The top three paid advertising spots get 46% of the clicks on the page. And before you think any of this is too expensive; on average, businesses make $3 in revenue for every $1.60 they spend on Adwords, and that total revenue number adds up quickly.

Long story short, if you haven’t jumped on board the digital marketing train yet, don’t waste any more time! Or you could find yourself hours, days, months, even years behind the rest of the business world.
