You need a stable internet connection to create torrent. In case you have a slow network, you need the patience to get the job done.
Before we go deep into the core of the process, I want you to have the following.
Requirements to Create a .torrent File
- A stable internet connection as I said earlier
- A torrent client (can be anything like BitTorrent or uTorrent)
- A little bit of patience
- WinRar or any file compression utility (I will tell you the use later)
Make sure you have all the requirements given above. The last one is optional. But it is going to help you out greatly in decreasing the seeding time.

How to Create and Seed a Torrent?
You can follow the steps given below to create and seed a torrent file. I already told you that it is not a geeky process. And, it doesn’t steal much of your time either.
Step 1: You have to decide what you are going to upload. If you want to upload a film, find the exact directory where it is saved. Maybe you want to upload multiple files. If it’s the case, bring all of them into the same location.
Step 2: The bigger the size of the files, the lengthier the seeding, will be. So, you should decrease the size of the files. That’s why I told you to install a compress utility.
Let’s say you have WinRar. As you have all the files in the same folder, you don’t find it difficult to choose all of them and click right mouse button.
Then, you can see an option named Add to archive. You need to click that and choose options accordingly on the next window. There you go!
Step 3: Now that you have a compressed file of all the items you want to upload on torrent, it’s time to know how to create a torrent and seed it.
Just open your torrent client at this step. Access Files>> Create New Torrent. On most of the torrent clients, this is the path. In case you feel any difference, just glance through all the available options first. It will help you find out the exact option.
Step 4: You will get a new window here with multiple fields.
The first field shows the path of your file or directory. You can either enter the same directly or click on any of the options given there. Add file can be used to select files whereas the second one (add directory) is for folders.

The second field is dedicated for trackers. If you want to see your torrent entry on different torrent websites, you should add their tracker. The following are the important trackers.

You can add all of them to increase the exposure.
Well, you must enable Start seeding checkbox. And, it is up to you how to handle further options. In case you want to make the file private, you should enable Private torrent. And, you can add your website address and RSS there as well.
Of course, you can make multiple selections too. But I strongly believe that a zipped file is the best one in P2P sharing. As we have only one file (zipped), you will not find any issues with it.
Step 5: By the time you press Create button, it will start seeding. And, the duration depends on how big your files are and how fast your internet connection works.
Just before seeding, you will be asked to save .torrent file. Don’t overlook this step.
Step 6: You have to submit the torrent to different sites. Choose any torrent site and create an account over there. Once you sign in, you will see an upload button.
Feel free to use it and; you will be asked to select your .torrent file. Just pick the one you saved. Maybe, they need you to add a few lines of description about what is inside the file.
If you want to increase the download count, you need to do it on multiple sites. And, don’t stop seeding for a few days (I recommend a week) until you start getting downloads. Or else, it will be thrown out of the torrent network.
Do check the authority rules imposed on torrent before you upload any file. You can promote your product or site by integrating a text file within the archive that includes links.
