The Disadvantages Of Upgrading To Windows 10

Here’s why Windows 10 might not be the one for you:

System Requirements

Your Computer might not meet with Windows 10 requirements. If you want to install the 64-bit version of Windows 10, you will need a 20GB of open hard drive space. Moreover, you will need a 1GHz processor, Direct X 9 capable video card with WDDM driver and a 2GB RAM. These requirements of Windows 10 will not allow you to enjoy its features.

Automatic Updates

Automatic updates are a good feature of Windows 10 as it allows you to enjoy the most up to date version of Windows 10. However, there can be problems with graphic drivers.

Cortana

The virtual personal assistant ‘Cortana’ adds value to Windows 10, where you can give voice commands to Cortana just like Siri and Ok Google on smartphones. However, this feature is limited for certain regions. Cortana is only available in Germany, Spain, China, France, Italy, United states and United Kingdom. Other users in other regions may have to update Windows to enjoy Cortana’s amazing service.

The default web browser for Windows 10 is Microsoft Edge which replaced Internet Explorer. This version doesn’t support touch gestures.

Privacy Issues

Microsoft collects information to improve and make available its services in Windows 10. When you want to install Windows 10 to your computer, you will have to provide information about you, application, devices, application usage, search queries etc. Windows 10 might not be the one for you if you are not comfortable with sharing information.

Managing Settings

Windows 10 consists of a Windows app which has replaced the control panel. The Setting app is not a complete feature as you still require making changes in the control panel to adjust certain options in the computer. In this case, though you can change the desktop background by the settings app, still you must attend the control panel to change the theme settings. Further, settings app will enable you to change mouse settings of the computer however you need Control Panel to change the mouse pointer. Similarly, settings app allows you to get connected to WiFi but you need to use the control panel to change network adapter settings.

Cannot Uninstall Certain Apps

Windows 10 consists of different apps such as calendar, Alarms and Clock, Cortana, Calculator etc.. which you cannot uninstall if you don’t like. The Xbox app in Windows 10 is an app that you can’t get rid of by uninstalling.

Windows 10 doesn’t allow users to upgrade old versions of Windows such as 2000 and 2001. If you have an old computer, your computer might slow down as an old hardware is not enough to operate the system. Further, the touch friendly feature is not there anymore in Windows 10. Its OS is similarly to Windows XP. If you’re looking to activate your copy of Windows 10, check out this Microsoft toolkit tool.
