How To Enable Copy/ Paste In Command Prompt.

Today we came up with the new tweak which is very useful for all the user especially for the programmers. Now let us start learning how to enable copy/ paste in command prompt. Many times I thought of copy and paste in command prompt which will help us a lot when we are trying to fix some thing through commands. By default windows does not allow users to copy text and paste it in command prompt or copy text from command prompt and paste it anywhere else. But there is an option in command prompt to enable copy/ paste in command prompt. With this hidden option,You can do all Copy/Paste all commands in command prompt.  



One of the main advantage of this will be that you can copy any command that you find on internet or from any word/excel file and paste it directly in CMD and execute that directly. We hope that it will help you a lot in some trouble shooting problems.

How To Enable Copy/Paste In Command Prompt:

Below is the step wise procedure of enabling copy/paste command in CMD prompt. Just follow all the steps and feel free to drop your questions in comment section below.

Step – 1:  Open command prompt, just type CMD in search or press WIN + X  to select command prompt.

Step – 2: Right click on the Title bar of the Command Prompt Window and select properties just like as shown in the figure.


Step – 3: Now you will see a pop up window on the right hand side under Edit Options just check Enable Editing and Press Ok.


Step – 4: Everything is done , Now just copy text from here or anywhere else using CTRL + C keys (Remember this command which is very basic command to copy) now just right click using your mouse on CMD. Now you will see the text that you copied recently on Command Prompt.

Like wise, if you wish to copy text from command prompt to paste somewhere else .Select the text from command prompt and again right click with the mouse. That’s it,Your text is copied and ready to paste it in any document you want.

This doesn’t limit you to just copy the text,you can also copy the folders that you selected in the command prompt.
