Looks like Snapchat is focused on developing AI features on its platform. Just few months, it launched My AI, a chatbot customised for the social media app that runs on OpenAI’s GPT technology to $3.99 per month Snapchat Plus subscribers. Today, the Tech company says it is introducing “My AI Snaps”, a new generative AI feature that allows Snapchat+ subscribers to send Snaps depicting their activities and receive unique generative Snaps in response from the in-app chatbot, My AI. The goal is to enhance users’ conversations and add an element of surprise and creativity to their Snaps.
For instance, if users capture a photo of their delicious pizza or share an image of an impeccable outfit, My AI will generate a personalised Snap in return. Similarly, by sharing a picture of their latest grocery items, My AI might offer recipe suggestions based on the purchased goods. These interactions aim to enhance conversations and introduce an element of excitement to Snapchat’s user experience.
Snapchat notes that all messages exchanged with My AI, including Snaps, are stored for the purpose of improving the product. Although the feature is designed to prevent biased, incorrect, harmful, or misleading information, Snapchat acknowledges that mistakes may occur. Consequently, relying solely on My AI for advice is not recommended, and users are encouraged to provide feedback in case of any concerns or issues.
Furthermore, all messages sent to My AI, including generative photos, are retained until manually deleted. It is crucial for Snapchat users to exercise caution when sharing personal information or sensitive content, considering that these messages are stored within the system.
In conjunction with the launch of My AI Snaps, Snapchat has introduced various other AI enhancements within the app. Users can now include My AI in group chats by mentioning it with the use of an “@” symbol. Additionally, AI algorithms are leveraged to provide location recommendations and suggest lenses, further enriching the overall Snapchat experience.
My AI Snaps is exclusively available to Snapchat+ subscribers, who subscribe to the $3.99/month in-app subscription. This subscription package offers a range of Snapchat enhancements, including access to My AI and its interactive features.
