Morocco-based Healthtech Startup Datapathology has raised $1 million (10 million Dirhams) from Azur Innovation Fund to expand its network of laboratories in Morocco and Africa. It also intends to enhance its internal capabilities to augment the volume of data processed within its platform.
This follows the successful raise of $196,000 (2 million Dirhams) a year and a half ago from the Witamax fund managed by Soax Partners.
DataPhathology is a Moroccan MedTech startup founded in 2020 by Mohammed El Khannoussi, a pathologist and Hicham El Attar, an SI & Data consultant, that focuses on pathology and strives to provide rapid and precise pathological diagnosis for effective patient care. The startup leverages advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence to revolutionize the field of pathology.
DataPathology is dedicated to tackling the challenges of inadequate and delayed cancer diagnosis, particularly in medically underserved regions like Africa. Their mission revolves around an innovative approach that involves performing biopsies and preparing tissue samples directly at the patient’s examination site. These samples are then digitized and securely transmitted, maintaining anonymity, to the medical team for diagnosis via a web platform. By streamlining this process, DataPathology aims to improve cancer diagnosis and enhance patient care in underserved areas.
DataPathology has forged strategic alliances with global leaders in the digital health industry and successfully launched the inaugural digital pathological diagnosis center in Morocco. Additionally, they have commenced dialogues with African nations that exhibit promising prospects for enhancing cancer diagnosis. In their future endeavors, the startup aims to broaden their network of laboratories across Morocco and Africa, bolstering the essential infrastructure and logistics required to amplify the integration and processing of data within their platform.
