Nigerian Startup, Peachwater has won the energy startup of the Year Africa 2018 Award at a ceremony in Casablanca, Morocco. Peachwater developed Powerstove-which is an ultra-clean cook stove that burns 70% less biomass, saves lives, generate electricity, improve livelihoods, empower women, and preserve the environment.
Nigeria’s Peachwater Bags Energy Startup of The Year Africa 2018 Award
The award is organised by Startup.Info magazine in support of African innovation. More than 600 startups from 52 different countries took part with over 12,000 online votes gathered, and 41 million people reached on social media.
The Energy of the year rewards an Africa based startup bringing innovation to energy. Peachwater will receive 10,000€ visibility Pack offered by Startup.info, visibility in ENGIE internal network and Integration into entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem of ENGIE.
Other winning categories included Hydroiq which won the African Startup of the year award, the Qwant public choice award won by Ecodome of Morocco, and OCP – Agritech special prize went to Grace Agricole of Ivory Coast. One of the other innovation awards, the Africa diaspora award, was won by Samoa of France.
