Reddit discovers organized Russian information campaign

for influencing UK
Reddit claims to have discovered an organized Russian operation on its platform, where the aim seems to be influencing the British elections. Documents on the negotiations between the United Kingdom and the United States appeared on the site.

Recently, documents leaked through Reddit about the British health care system and negotiations with the United States on access to it. Subsequently , the company launched an investigation behind the social networking site, where dozens of accounts with links to Russia were found. It concerns a total of 61 accounts, which have since been banned. Incidentally, it is not clear whether the leaked documents are real or not; both the British and the US governments did not want to confirm that.

Although it cannot be said with certainty who is behind the influencing campaign, the Russian government seems to be pointing the finger at it. This is because of the large-scale operation, and because the design and style are comparable to an operation on Facebook, called Secondary Infektion.

There are regular reports about Russian influence campaigns. Microsoft recently accused Russian state hackers of attacking anti-doping authorities’ systems. Facebook removed a number of troll networks from Russia from its website.
