and Civilization VI is fastest selling Civ game
Game publisher Take-Two Interactive achieved a revenue increase of 39 percent in the past quarter compared to the same period last year. Of the turnover, 58 percent came from dlc and micro transactions.
The share of ‘recurring expenditures’, which includes dlc and micro transactions, was slightly lower than in the same period last year, when it was 62 percent. Take Two achieved a quarterly turnover of 540.5 million dollars, last year that was 388 million dollars in the comparable quarter. Take-Two considers the figures favorable enough to adjust its financial forecasts for the coming year upwards.
In a conversation with investors, a transcript of which can be read at Seeking Alpha , Take-Two foreman Karl Slatoff reported that Civilization VI is the fastest selling title in the franchise’s history. To date, more than 5.5 million copies have been sold. The game was released in October of 2016 and received a major expansion in February of this year.
Take-Two also mentions NBA 2K19, Grand Theft Auto Online and Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online, the Borderlands franchise, Social Point’s mobile games, WWE SuperCard and WWE 2K19 as its largest revenue generators.
Take-Two also announced in the conversation that 25 million copies of Red Dead Redemption 2 have now been delivered and that the GTA V deliveries have passed the 110 million mark. The publisher also has high expectations of Borderlands 3. Up to 22 million copies of Borderlands 2 have been delivered and Take-Two says that they want to surpass that with the new part.
