The Vip Demo of Anthem has suffered from Connection problems. Since the first day many players can not log in or they can not access the server. Bioware explains that the problems had different causes.
Chad Robertson, Biowares head of live services , reports that the developers are still working on solving the problems with platform connections, software rights and load times. Robertson rejects the claim that the servers were not prepared for traffic. “To ensure stability, we wanted to adapt the servers to the growing number of players, and in general we had extra capacity for growth and we will keep that”, says Robertson.
According to Robertson, the problem with platform connections did not occur with internal tests. This was caused by the increase in players after they logged in. In addition, a bug was found in the rights of players. A number of players who had a certain combination of rights could not access the demo due to the bug. There is no further explanation of what this combination was. Robertson reports that the bug has largely been resolved, but that the developers are still working on a number of individual cases.
There are also players who have had to deal with ‘infinite loading screens’. Initially the developers thought that this problem had only occurred during the internal tests and that it had been solved. “Unfortunately, the problem has increased externally, where the difference between the ISPs and home networks of players introduce new behavior.” explains Robertson.
Anthems VIP demo was live from 25 to 27 January for players who had placed a pre-order or had access to EA’s Origin Access Premier service. This was extended by a few hours in connection with the Connection Problems. From Friday 1 to Sunday 3 February, the demo is widely available for Windows, the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.
