Software update: FileZilla 3.40.0 RC1

The release candidate of version 3.40.0 of the open source ftp client Filezilla has appeared. FileZilla is small, simple and complete. The program is popular due to the low load on system resources. FileZilla is available for Windows, Linux and macOS. Since version 3.26.0, passwords are no longer stored unencrypted and unsecured on the computer.

Be careful with the download file recommended by SourceForge, because that is often bundled with third-party software. This page contains installation files that do not contain additional components. An incorrect installation can easily be recognized by the word bundled in the filename. The changelog for this issue looks like this:

New features:
Added TLS 1.3 support by linking official binaries against GnuTLS 3.6.5
Refactored how sites and servers are represented internally to fix issues triggered by renaming sites in the Site Manager
Bug fixes and minor changes:
Fix display or server names containing ampersands in several dialogs
Fix regular expression filter in the quick search panel
Fix a crash if files are added to the queue when there are already files for multiple different servers in the queue
Fix a crash applying filters when the new file count is set
Fix a crash if emptying the queue while a directory creation item is active
Fix a potential crash if FileZilla is closed the moment a delayed dialog has already been created but before it is shown.
