Two American Senators have asked for clarification from Supermicro because of the claims about the integration of a chip by the Chinese government on the motherboards of the manufacturer. Supermicro denies the claims, but the senators still want answers to questions.
The two senators, one of the Democrats and the other of the Republicans, according to Business Insider of Supermicro want to know when they were aware of the claims and what research they had done to support their denial. Business Insider has put the letter online in full. The senators think the questions are important, because if the claims are correct, it would have far-reaching consequences.
Financial news agency Bloomberg published last week based on several years of research and claims from many sources that the Chinese government had placed chips on Supermother’s server motherboards. Then those servers would have been with large companies such as Amazon and Apple. Among other American and British government agencies say not to doubt the denials of Amazon, Apple and Supermicro. The Norwegian security authority Nasjonal Sikkerhetsmyndighet says something else and claims that it found a problem with Supermicro servers in June.
It is unknown if and when Supermicro will respond to the questions from the senators. It is the first political reaction after the publication of the story last Thursday.Viewing:-29
