3DMark Time Spy results from suspected GeForce RTX 2080

In the 3DMark database benchmark results are an Nvidia GeForce RTX card. The card is not mentioned by name, but it is probably the RTX 2080. In the Time Spy benchmark the card is faster than the GTX 1080 Ti.

The card achieves a graphics score of 10,030 and 10,100 points in the Time Spy benchmark. This means that the video card in the relevant benchmark is slightly faster than the GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition. In the Tweakers review , that card scored 9405 points in the same benchmark. The GTX 1080 reached 7201 points.

In the 3DMark database the video card is not mentioned by name, but based on the 8GB vram and the memory speed of effectively 14GBit / s, it can be concluded that this is the RTX 2080 or the RTX 2070. It seems unlikely that the score belongs to the latter video card.

Based on the Time Spy results, the RTX 2080 seems to be about 40 percent faster than the GTX 1080. Whether that also applies to other benchmarks and games, is not yet clear. Nvidia previously claimed that the new video card in games is about one and a half times as fast as its predecessor.

Whether the Time Spy score shown is representative can not yet be said with certainty. It is not known how many cores are active and whether, for example, the tensor scores and cores for raytracing are put to work. The driver can also be a beta.

UL, the maker of 3DMark, has indicated that a raytracing version of the Time Spy benchmark will be released in September. Probably in any case the RT cores of the RTX cards are put to work.
