your movements: how to disable tracking them?

iPhone stores data about
Few people know, but your iPhone continuously monitors your location and saves the history of your movements. As Apple reveals, this is done to improve the product and user experience. Nevertheless, if necessary, such tracking can be disabled, and today we will tell you how.

The function responsible for tracking is called “Relevant places”. Here’s how Apple describes the operation of this option:

Your iPhone will remember the places you Visited recently, as well as the frequency and time of their visit to know the places that matter to you. This data is transmitted between devices connected to iCloud using end-to-end encryption and will not be provided to a third party without your consent.

When determining the location, geolocation services are used, namely GPS, Bluetooth , Wi-Fi. In rare cases, the geo position is also determined with the aid of cell towers. As a result, when the “Meaningful places” option is activated, the battery life of the device may be shortened.

So, where can I see all the data about my movements?

Launch Settings
Then go to the section “Privacy” → “Geolocation services” → “System services” → “Important places”.

Here you can see a list of all Visited Places, their coordinates on the map, as well as the date and time of stay.
Sometimes information about visited places can be useful – for example, when traveling, however, if privacy comes first, the option can be simply turned off.

How do I prevent tracking?

In order to limit the tracking, it is enough to switch the toggle switch in front of the “Important places” in an inactive position.
Although disabling the option prevents data collection, this does not delete the previously stored information. Therefore, before disabling the function, you should clear the list of visited places by manual deletion.
