FAS wants to see on smartphones only Russian software

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) proposed to oblige manufacturers to install on Domestic smartphones supplied to Russia, domestic analogues of the Western Software. This is reported by “Kommersant” referring to the “road map” of the draft submitted to the government for consideration.

According to Kommersant’s information, the preparation of the draft law is planned to be completed by April 2019. This will be engaged specialists Minkomsvyazi, FAS and Rospotrebnadzor, which will consider possible options for manufacturers to comply with the new rules, as well as the implications of their adoption for the market.

Deleting regular applications
In addition to installing domestic software, the law will oblige smartphone manufacturers to provide consumers with the option of completely removing preinstalled software without using third-party programs. Thus, memory devices will not suffer from duplicating applications.

Adoption of the bill, industry experts believe, will lead to a significant jump in the cost of smartphones. First of all, this is due to the fact that domestic analogues of some programs from Western developers are distributed for a fee, at the risk of influencing the pricing of the final product.
