The Number of users who log in to Youtube monthly rose from 1.5 billion in June last year to 1.8 billion. On TV, users watch YouTube for a total of more than 150 million hours a day, claims the service.
No matter how many users YouTube really has, the company is not known, but that number is probably a lot higher than the 1.8 billion that the service did reveal during Brandcast, an event aimed at advertisers. As for the 150 million hours a day on TVs, YouTube also calculates the number of hours viewed through media players such as Apple TV and game consoles. Some popular broadcasts were the Beyoncé performance during Coachella, which drew 41 million viewers, and the video of Despacito, which has been viewed more than 5 billion times.
YouTube emphasized during Brandcast its strategy to publish more exclusive videos. This offer includes ‘Will Smith: The Jump Off’, in which actor Will Smith is followed in the run-up to a bungee jump from a helicopter. YouTube also promised to hire ten thousand moderators to remove harmful content, and the service provided new tools to allow advertiser to monitor the effectiveness of their campaigns.
